What kind of dogs do you accept?

Generally speaking, we only accept well-behaved and neatly groomed dogs.

What kind of dogs don’t you accept?

Generally speaking, we don’t accept:

  • Dogs that smell strongly (odorous dogs will be bathed immediately and a minimum $30 surcharge will be added to the dog’s stay)
  • Dogs that are people aggressive
  • Dogs that are not housebroken
  • Dogs that howl and bark non-stop and we cannot calm
  • Dogs that consistently destroy kennel materials
  • Sick or non-vaccinated dogs (proof or vaccination is required at time of booking)

What is your procedure for admitting dogs to your kennel?

Not all dogs are a good fit for every kennel. To best serve the needs of your dog, we’ve made it mandatory that their first visit is only ONE overnight. This allows us to get to know your dog a little, and your dog to get to know the kennel routine at Country Canine. During this one-night stay we assess your dog’s comfort level, interactions with other dogs and general well-being while at our kennel.

To be clear, we don’t accept every dog. It’s our top priority that your dog has a stress-free stay with us. In the long run, if your dog isn’t a good fit you’ll appreciate us telling you so – everyone is much happier in that situation, most importantly your dog. We even have a testimonial to that effect!

Are there any forms I need to fill out before my dog’s visit?

Yes. There’s two – a Basic Information Form and our Veterinary Care Waiver. Click the links to open and print them (or you can fill them out at the kennel too!).

Do you accept dogs on Christmas and New Year’s Eve?

Yes. But for reservations at Christmas and New Year’s Eve we require a non-refundable deposit at the time of reservation.

When are Drop Off And Pick Up Times?

Hours of Arrival and Departure are on an appointment basis. Please arrive at the time you have reserved. Generally speaking, 7 days a week & 365 days a year, the front gates will only be open:

  • 9 – 10am
  • 4 – 5pm

It is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY to adhere to these times unless agreed upon in advance. We insist upon this for the calm and wellbeing our the dogs. If these times do not work for you, please let us know and we’ll do our best to find a time that works for you.

How often will my dog be walked or given time outside?

All dogs will get a minimum of 5 outings (walks and/or playtime) per day with dogs that are similar in nature.

How can I pay for my visit?

We accept cash and debit.

Do the prices shown on your website include HST?

Do I need to bring my dog’s dishes and bedding?

We will happily provide dishes and raised beds for your dog. Feel free to bring a small bed/blanket/towel that smells like home for your dog. Dirty bedding will be refused.
